Grilled Cheese?
Keagan loves cheese, and he loves toast. The next logical progression in his culinary adventures was to give him a grilled cheese. Well, today for lunch I did just that, cut in quarters. He picked up a quarter and looked at it carefully, turning it around in his hands a few times. He then plunged his finger in between the bread pieces to experience what this gooey substance was. He picked a piece of white goo off the sandwich and ate it, to ensure that it was in fact cheese. Then he looked at me, as if to say "why would you do that to the cheese?" and began to deconstruct the sandwich. He pulled the bread pieces apart and picked all the cheese off the pieces of bread. Then he ate the bread bite by bite. Well, I can't say he didn't enjoy his first grilled cheese sandwich, but I think the concept of the sandwich was lost and really he would have preferred cheese and toast.

Even at 4, Charlotte only likes melted cheese on pizza! But at least he tried it and didn't throw it on the floor!

Ditto with Loula... this is a very common thing for babbies/toddlers. Even now sometiems she will take apart her sandwich before she eats it. Go figure. You're next adventure is to try "melts"- chicken melt, ham melt, veggie melt- and see if he'll eat it that way!
