Balloon, balloon!!

Yesterday Erik, Keagan and I went to Shaws together. While Erik was entertaining Keagan as I hurried down the aisles (the store was a madhouse due to predicted snow), they happened upon a bunch of Patriots mylar balloons. I had warned Erik that Keagan might want to touch every balloon he sees. I don't usually take the balloons down for him, but when I came back from the soda aisle with two seltzers, there is Keagan holding his very own balloon. We decide to let him keep it and after a minor fight with Keagan to have him give it over to the clerk to be scanned, we head home with the balloon. Keagan is _in love_ with the balloon and it prompts lots of fun and giggling. Unfortunately, we got home close to Keagan's nap time and being separated from his balloon for a diaper change and nap was very traumatic. I heard poor Erik soothing Keagan's sobs through the monitor until he eventually him to take his Baba and settled down for a book. Erik and I wanted to get out of the house after Keagan's nap since we were pretty sure of being snowed in today, and I said "maybe we should hide the balloon so we don't have to fight about not bringing it in the car." Erik's response was "I'll give you 3 to 1 odds on $50 that it's the first thing he asks for when he wakes up." Well, I was smart not to take that bet. We ended up not only bringing the balloon in the car, but into the mall with us as well. I think Erik was secretly proud his son was toting around a Patriots balloon the day after their first playoff win. I drew the line at bringing the balloon into Firefly's BBQ restaurant for dinner. Keagan got a little upset, but he handled it pretty well, with assurances that the balloon would be in the car when we got back. We did not let Keagan sleep with the balloon in his room last night, but the first word I heard this morning through the monitor was "booon...boooon..."

PS- the cookie I am holding up in the picture is what came with the kids menu at the restaurant. This is why Americans are so fat. I'm supposed to give that to my 18 month old?

DUDE. That cookie is huge, even for an adult. And people wonder why we are such food nazis with Loula.

lamber, traumatic is spelled with a "u", which I'm sure you know and you wrote your blog entry too fast to notice. FYI, I love balloons too.

Welcome to the world of Mylar Balloons! They will be floating all over the house for a few years to come! You will soon learn who has the cheapest, and which stores to avoid if you want a quick in and out! Emma had balloons all over for years, they just love them! In fact at her 7 y.o. girly party Sat night, the balloons were the best part of the playroom!! Kristin
