The Power of "No"

Keagan now has a very cute and exaggerated "yeeeaaahhh" to go with his favored "no." My favorite though, is when he says "No" and shakes his head "yes" (meaning he really wants it, but wants to power to say 'no' at the same time)- that's priceless. He expresses his opinion alot these days. While driving in the car today, he decided he didn't like some songs as they came on the radio (all his kid CDs, mind you). At the beginning of a handful of songs he just said "no...no...no..." until I hit the skip button. Keagan also likes to decide what he'll eat, but I've found that "no" doesn't always really mean he doesn't want it. For example, I held out a piece of toast and he said "no" and then got mad when I took it away, and grabbed for it as soon as I put it back in reach. His default answer for most questions is "no" of course. "Do you want to get ready for bed?"... "No". "Do you have a poopy diaper?"..."No". "Can we put on your coat?"... "No". Luckily though, he really just wants the right to say "No" and will soonafter concede to the activity. I think the only thing he has not yet told us "No" for is "Do you want to get in the tubby?"
The cutest little "No" we've heard this week is during a game of Hide-and-Seek. Keagan loves hiding in little nooks and playing with us. Erik really hams it up and goes looking ALL around for him. During a monologue of where he was looking, Erik said "Is Keagan under the table??" and we hear (from between the wall and dining hutch) and tiny little "noooooo....."
