Potty Time!

We are starting the early stages of "potty readiness" with Keagan now. We have a potty in the bathroom and he sits on it occasionally, especially before bathtime when he's getting undressed. This evening we did a fun experiment. I had Keagan out playing in the backyard with a bare bottom. We were splashing in our little sprinkler pool, and Keagan learned how difficult it is to go down a slide with a naked bum. This was something the Sears book offered as a way to get them to realize what peeing is all about- with modern diapers where they don't feel the wetness, sometimes their concept of peeing isn't really there yet. This is definately true for Keagan. He was clearly unaware that when he was peeing, it actually had anything to do with him. He's also still peeing very frequently and not very much at a time- not exactly what you want for potty training. So he's not quite ready for a real "try" right now, but I figured we'll take advantage of the warm weather and let him go without a diaper outside when we can and maybe he'll start to learn a little bit about what's going on down there!

We have a cool potty that looks like a real one, has a lid, and sounds like it's flushing if you put a battery in. It really helped Charlotte around Keagan's age with pee-pee....#2 took longer. If you'd like it, I'll give it to Tarah the next time I see her.
