Scarecrow

Today I thought it would be fun to make a scarecrow for under our front tree. Keagan has seen some around and knows they are supposed to be for scaring birds and he'll say "scarecrow, shoo shoo birds!" Keagan didn't get too much into putting the leaves inside the clothes, which I thought he might think was fun- really he just likes jumping in the leaf piles and didn't appreciate me making them smaller. He did, however, have fun with putting the pumpkin head on the scarecrow. He has been eyeing these plastic pumpkin baskets everywhere we go lately, so I finally broke down and bought him one (really, doesn't every house in America that has kids have one of these anyway?) for our scarecrow head. Sadly, a few minutes after we made the scarecrow with his pumpkin head, Keagan decided he wanted his pumpkin back to play with. Some quick thinking, a broken flower pot and a sharpie later, Frankenstein Scarecrow was complete. I should have warned Erik about him, because he got home when it was almost dark last night and had a bit of a scare.... at least I know he works!
Also in our trip for the pumpkin, I bought a witch hat to wear to downtown Halloween on Thursday, which Keagan thought was pretty cool to wear himself. I also made a "spaceship pumpkin" trying out that technique of putting clear beads in the pumpkin instead of carving it (the pumpkin is black because it was a pumpkin Keagan painted from Maynardfest). Once complete, all I could think of was it looked like a spaceship.
