Winter, Winter, Winter

I'm not usually one to complain about Winter. I don't get cold easily and enjoy the snow. Keagan, however, has decided he will not wear Winter outerwear and therefore hasn't gone out in the snow once this season, except to walk the path to the car and back....sigh... This has made for a long Winter and it's only January! To tempt him we even had playgroup take a trip outside to make snowmen this week, but Keagan screamed when I put on his snow pants, and we watched from the sliding glass door instead. It was sad because he did say he wanted to go out with his friends, and I pointed out how they were all wearing snow pants so that they didn't get too cold and wet, but it did not sway him. We have a vacation to North Conway, NH in February with a bunch of friends and I'm hoping the peer pressure might persuade him. Funny how peer pressure is always viewed as a bad thing, but sometimes it is a necessary motivator.
To save my sanity with this wintery predicament we have been taking lots of trips to indoor places. On Monday we had playgroup, then a trip to the Playspace at the Natick Mall on Tuesday, a playdate with a little girl from Terrific Twos on Wednesday, the Discovery Museum in Acton and over to Owen's house on Thursday and a trip to Perpetual Motion (a great indoor playground) in Lowell on Friday. It can get a bit expensive paying fees at some of these places, but it's hard to put a price on my mental wellbeing ;)
I'm sure this Winter issue is just a phase. When Keagan was a year old he wouldn't go on sand at beaches that whole summer- this year you couldn't keep him off it. By next Winter he will probably be a very eager Snow Bunny.

Try to find "Thinsulate" pants instead of bulky snowpants. We didn't have this problem, but Arnold has a pair of these and they are waterproof, warm, and not at all restrictive. You also may try reversing the style you have...get a bib style if you have the pull-up kind, or pull-up style if you have the bib. Also, "The Rugged Bear" has different patterns besides the usual black or blue....there are moons and stars, circles, bright colors etc...

Good luck!
