98 Degrees in April?

It was hot today. Not just "this is warm for a Spring day" hot, but HOT even for a summer day. Interestingly, it's going to get below freezing tomorrow night though... weird!
Anyway, to beat the heat we first went to a friend's house to do some playing with an outdoor water table, and then Central AC when it got too warm, very nice. Then broke out the sprinkler pool late afternoon (so I didn't have to re-slather his WHOLE body with sunscreen AGAIN). Keagan, Willow and I all appreciated the cold hose water immensely. It was also the first time Keagan decided to incorporate toys (mostly from his sandbox) into the pool so he really played in it for a while, driving trucks and scooping water and dumping it. It was fun to watch. It's not really a pool (loyal blog followers will recognize it from last year), but it does keep about 2-3 inches of water in it when the hose is going, so it's enough. If you really crank up the hose water squirts out of all kinds of holes everywhere to make your own sprinkler park, but that seems a bit intense and wasteful, so I keep the hose low, which just replenishes the pool and allows the water to squirt out just when Keagan steps certain places, which he has discovered and loves to do. It was a lovely way to spend the late afternoon, if only we could get the biting black flies to leave- honestly, it used to just be mosquitoes and ticks, now biting flies too! Can't I just enjoy my backyard!
