Brusha - brusha- brusha

We've been working very hard on Keagan's teeth brushing skills (well, it's mostly Erik actually, who battles periodontal issues himself and is therefore very concerned about oral health). Keagan is back to a regular toothbrush most nights- the novelty of the electric fire truck one has sort of worn off. He needs to be coached to get all his teeth, not push too hard or go too fast, and not to just chew on the brush. I think he's getting better. We haven't yet started to teach him to spit- he's still on the baby toothpaste that is edible, and I think part of the appeal is just sucking off the toothpaste at this point, so the spitting thing may be a ways off. He has his first dentist appointment in July though, so we're hoping he gets a "good grade" from them. Here are some cute pics Erik took from tonight's tooth brushing adventures.

Try a Tooth Tunes Brush....you hear the music in your head as you brush! You can get pop, rock, country, heavy metal!!!
They all brush their teeth like that at this age...kind of chewing, nawing on the brush. He sound like he is doing well! Good luck with the dentist, Emma has always loved to go and get her teeth cleaned!!

Charlotte isn't afraid of the dentist....anymore, but by Keagan's age, the poor kid already had a root canal, then a crown at 3 1/2. One ten year molar had formed in such a way that particles of food would make their way down deep, so deep that no toothbrush invented would reach. Our first pediatric dentist even wanted to pull it out, but then Dr. Judge hooked us up with an awesome pediatric dentist in Cohasset. She saved what is a very important tooth. Charlotte now thinks her crown is kinda cool! Good luck! He'll be fine as long as there aren't any major issues.
