First Days

We've been home a couple days now as a family of four. So far I think we are all adjusting very well. With Erik home, I'm not really feeling overwhelmed with having two at all, but I'm a bit nervous about when he goes back to work. I am feeling really good and just reminding myself it hasn't even been a week yet and I need to take it easy. I'm not very good at taking it easy. We've had food delivered from friends for all our dinners and we have more coming, so the most I've done in the kitchen is pour cereal in the morning (ok, I made pancakes yesterday, I couldn't help myself! But that's it, I swear).
Keagan has been doing well in his role as big brother. Again, I think having Erik home to make sure he gets enough attention has been key, and so things may get a bit hairier in the coming weeks, but so far it's been good. Keagan goes to get toys to show the baby and books to read together. The one jealousy issue we've had so far is when Erik put the baby in the Ergo baby carrier and Keagan got upset because he can still fit in that carrier, on Erik's back, so he wanted to be in it the instant he saw the baby go in. Keagan got a turn later.

Keagan will be fine, and you'll do great! It's just an adjustment for everyone. He has been the focus, and since he's older now, will soon realize that he's still an important person, and so is Torin. Let him help as much as possible, and he'll see how helpless the baby is, and what a big boy he is. My friend who just had a baby also has an older daughter. She did get upset sometimes, but once she assisted with getting the diapers, helped with changing and bath time etc... she started to feel very protective instead of jealous. It did take a couple of months, but now she doesn't remember not having her brother. Keep cool and Keagan will too. (BTW, her husband only took one day off after the birth!)
Can't wait to meet and hold Torin!

Love the pic of the Strelzoff boys reading a book in the rocking chair...

Adorable! Makes me feel like a wimp for complaining about taking care of just the one kid ;) How does Torin like the infant insert for the Ergo? I'm on the fence about whether or not to get one because I've heard it's SO HOT in the summertime.
