We are back from a week in Greenwood, ME! The property we rented with 4 other couples had two houses and a full size red train caboose on it, plus a hot tub, small swing set, firepit and two docks. Aspects of it were a bit "rustic" in terms of niceness, but overall it was a fun property, especially with the kids. We had 5 kids on the trip, age 7 and under, and we decided to have them all sleep together in one room. This was a bit challenging the first night, but they learned the routine pretty quickly and did well, although there were some keeping others awake at times. The great part about this arrangement though, was that no parents had to sleep in the same room as their kid(s) and all the adults could hang out together in one house after the kids went to sleep in the other (with our monitors on to keep an ear on them).
The weather was up and down. We had a few rainy days, but we all agreed we preferred that to 90s and humid since this location did not have any air conditioning and some of the bedrooms were stuffy. There was enough warmth and sun to get into the lake a few times and we also took a great day trip to Storyland in New Hampshire. Keagan really loved being big enough for all the rides there- especially the roller coaster and flume. Torin is getting a big earful of "you're too little" at this point, but he is taking it in stride and finding other things to do when necessary.
Willow absolutely was in heaven at this property, and in the woods hiking with us. He did not want to get back in the car to come home. He loved swimming and free-roaming around the large property- and even sneaking over to the neighbors to visit their dogs, and apparently stealing some food... luckily they were dog people so they laughed it off.
Our house seemed so quiet after living with 15 people for a week. I think it was a great experience for the kids and a great way to kick off the Summer!
