Madison NH Vacation

We got back from our week in the White Mountains yesterday. It was a great week, with not a drop of rain and nice cool nights but warm enough to swim days. The house we rented was slightly dissapointing- with electrical issues, terribly uncomfortable beds, brownish water, and a deck that shook when even Willow walked across it, but we decided not to let that get us down and rolled with it.
The area we were in is great for a train-loving toddler. We are now calling this the "Train Vacation" because we went on a different train ride for 5 days of the vacation. Trip 1 was a little local historic train that we happened to see through the trees from our house! Trip 2 was the North Conway Scenic Railway (a classic!). Trip 3 was the Hartwell Train Museum- which I highly recommend- it's a great museum with lots of buttons for the kids to push to make the electric trains go, and then there is a train ride outside. Trip 4 was Clark's Trading Post- the best part was you could ride this train as many times as you wanted once you paid to get in. The Bear Show was slightly dissapointing, as we couldn't see well due to sun glare, but the train ride- including attacks on the train from "Wolfman"- was definately worth it! Trip 5 was at Storyland where Tarah, Ken, Isabelle and Addy met us for the day. That was a ton of fun with all the kids- although Addy needs another year or so to get into it- and we will definately be going back again!
With all of the exciting day-trips, Keagan did not nap during this vacation- except to fall asleep in the car a couple times (which really just made him mad). He did, however, nap today at home though, so I don't think this means no more napping (thankfully for Mommy!). Aside from all the day-tripping, we did a lot of relaxing (I read 3 whole books!) and eating yummy food and swimming in the lake the house was on. After our kitchen/bath makeover, we all needed the R & R and I think we can tackle the Fall much better now :)
