Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

Isn't Thanksgiving a great holiday? It just embodies some of the best aspects of holidays, without the potential pitfalls; it's about food, family and taking a moment to appreciate all that we have without getting caught up with ad-ons like costumes, presents, tons of candy, etc like some other holidays. Don't get me wrong- I love those other crazy holidays (my Christmas shopping is 80% done!) and they are all great in their own way, but Thanksgiving seems just a tad simpler and therefore easier to relax through and enjoy, rather than needing a holiday FROM a holiday.

This year we spent Thursday in Boxford with Erik's parents and sister Becky for the traditional turkey dinner. On Friday, the three of them came to our house for some lasagna (a break from turkey for a day). Then on Saturday I made my turkey dinner and Mema and Papa came to celebrate with us. It was a very nice weekend with family.

Keagan also embarked on that magical journey through classic Christmas shows by watching How the Grinch Stole Christmas for the first time while Mema and Papa were here. He asked to watch it when he saw the DVD case, but then wasn't sure he wanted to, and thought the Grinch was a bit scary at times, but came out in the end liking it (and asking to watch it again today). My favorite quotes from him during the viewing: "Why is he so grumpy?" and "How is he going to steal Christmas?"
