Today was the Maynard Christmas Parade! We lucked out with sunny upper 30s weather (it's been FREEZING in years past). Keagan and I marched with the Maynard Family Association. Sadly, the parade was during Torin's nap time so Erik stayed home with him. The theme for the parade this year was "Home for the Holidays" so the MFA went with a Gingerbread house idea. We had 4 wagons made up to look like gingerbread houses, plus our Tiger mascot (Maynard athletes are the Tigers) and one dad also dressed up in a Grinch suit. It was really fun and festive. Santa flies in on a helicopter and landed about 50 yards from us, which was super exciting for Keagan who said "I've never seen a helicopter land before!!" There are tons of fire trucks, antique cars, Miss Massachusetts waving from a convertible, Wally the Green Monster of the Red Sox, the high school band, some bagpipers, Minutemen, a local marching band, and lots of local community groups. It's a pretty long parade and it winds all through downtown. Just one more reason I love Maynard!
