Today we partied like it's 1899 and spent a good portion of the afternoon chopping wood and building a fire. The boys totally loved it! It's funny because I remember thinking recently "how did parents survive without a playroom full of toys?" It was great to get out of the playroom and into the yard together. I think we may try to have us all work together on yard work or house work more often! Keagan is usually pretty eager to help out and Torin usually wants to do whatever big brother is doing. Certainly raking leaves and jumping in leaf piles was super fun this Fall. Maybe we'll try some gardening in the Spring. I don't mean to make it seem like we're never outside and this was some major epiphany. We're outside a lot (I have TWO BOYS) but today just seemed like really special family time that I want to replicate more.

We made sure the kids kept a safe distance from the unpredictable wood splitting area (that stump from the tree we cut down recently came in handy!)

Keagan loved carrying the wood back to his pile.

Torin and I worked on our pile of kindling by finding sticks around the yard.

Nothing beats the age-old game of finding a big stick and poking up at a tree.
