Always a great day to be in town: Maynard Fest! The center of town is closed to traffic and full of vendors selling all kinds of things, tons of food, booths for face painting, pumpkin painting, temporary tatoos, and of course the Happy Wagon! Both boys loved the trip on the Happy Wagon, which is a lawn tractor that pulls several individual seat carts. We were worried it was going to be a miserable wash out for the event, but although it threatened all day, it never really rained much. To top off the day, there is Oktoberfest in the Clock Tower parking lot with more food and beer and wine, and then fireworks! I love these fireworks because they are at 8:00 instead of the 10:00 time of July 4th. Way better for the kids! Mema and Papa came up to go out to dinner with us before the fireworks and we loved having them with us. It was Torin's first time with fireworks and we weren't sure how he would do, but he did very well! He thought they were a little loud, and I put my hands over his ears most of the show, but he seemed to like them. He said both that "they were scary" and "I want more"... so who knows! We'll see how he reacts the next time we ask him if he wants to go.
